Hulk Juice

"GROSS!!! It feels like a BOOGER!!", my five year old cried out. She instantly began to gag, dramatically clasping her throat, and screaming for water. "It stinks! It stinks so bad!", my three year old closed her nose as if she were walking through a land fill in July. What on Earth could cause such dramatics you ask?! Did I poison them? Did I feed them a bug? - No, I actually think they would have responded better to either of those, the terrible item I had the audacity to serve them .....steamed spinach, might as well have been a severed toe. There were, gags, there were tears (yes actual crying) and there were threats (from both me and them). Fast forward to today, and my five year old asked "...can I please have the green stuff now." GASP! How you ask... how did we go from the above to them requesting the same poisonous, trash dish they had above?! It is simple....they dunno that's what they are drinking. I love juicing! I myself have a...

An Apple a Day...

Apple Cider Vinegar Strawberry Lemonade I, like most of you, have heard all about the numerous benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) on the body, both externally and internally . ACV regulates blood sugar levels, enhances weight loss, lowers cholesterol, improves skin health, reduces blood pressure, relieves symptoms of acid reflux, boosts gut health, promotes kidney health and functions and much much more. There were several of the above listed items, and some unlisted ones, that had me desperately wanting to incorporate this little magic worker into my daily routine but there has been one thing that made it impossible to do so....the taste! I could  NOT stomach the taste; I tried mixing it in cranberry juice, I tried holding my nose, I tried it all....and then I gave up. With the first of the year came my new good intentions, goals, resolutions (whatever you want to call them) and I decided I really wanted to get on the ACV train. After lots o...

Surviving Summer : Essential Oils

Summer is one of my favorite seasons! Grilling out, traveling, soaking up the sun and water; paired with slower paced schedules and lots of family time, what couldn't you love?! ( well besides maybe sunburns, mosquito bites, car rides with crazy kiddos and....) yes I know the summer comes with other pests BUT good news! I have some simple remedies for that.  We love our Young Living Essential Oils , and these are some of my favorite oils for summer. This list is pretty short and sweet, if you want more information or to purchase any oils, or the premium starter kit just refer to the information at the bottom of this post. Summer Oil Essentials: Lavender : ...kids off sleep schedule?... too much sun soaked up? ...stand a little too close to the campfire or grill? Have no fear Lavender oil is here!! ( it is also a great way to fancy up your lemonade), and the swiss army knife of oils! *Pro tip* we use a few drops of lavender mixed with coconut oil as a nice post sun rub d...

Bacon, Egg and Cheese Muffins

If you are like me, the last thing you want to do this summer is slave away in a hot kitchen. While for us, summer means a break from the regular hussle, it does still come with its own form of busy. These bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast muffins are delicious, cheap, healthy, fast and easy (basically everything I hope for in a meal.) I make a double batch, wrap them in plastic wrap and toss in the freezer for an easy quick "grab and go" microwave friendly breakfast. Ingredients: makes 6 large muffins: 3 eggs 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese 1/4 cup of milk 6 pieces of your bacon of choice cooked (you can substitute sausage, ham or other meats as well) I used Turkey bacon veggies of your choice (I like bell peppers, tomatoes, or jalapenos ) 1 can of biscuits un cooked Combine the eggs, cheddar cheese, milk, and veggies in a mixing bowl. With a fork, (or whisk if you're a real cook....unlike me lol) beat the mixture until everything is pretty well mix...

Never say never.... things I swore my kids wouldn't do...

Five years. Today marks five whole, wild, funny, sad, happy crazy years of being a mom. While that is not substantial time in the eyes of some, I feel like it makes me pretty well seasoned. Three of those five years, I have been a mom to two sassy girls. I was looking back on some journal entries from before I had my first daughter, and was reflecting on how different reality is from the fantasy world we dream up before we actually become a parent. Below is a list of just a few items "pre-mom" Amber said her child would never do, but that since having kids my mind has changed on. 1."My kid will never sleep with me": I did pretty good at first, but then ....well I got tired, and she went from the bassinet , to the bed and she stayed in the bed for almost two years. Go ahead gasp, judge me whatever, but honestly I loved those quiet sweet moments watching her sleep, smelling her fresh from the bath little baby skin, feeling her little body snuggle mine. Somet...
