An Apple a Day...

Apple Cider Vinegar Strawberry Lemonade

I, like most of you, have heard all about the numerous benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) on the body, both externally and internally . ACV regulates blood sugar levels, enhances weight loss, lowers cholesterol, improves skin health, reduces blood pressure, relieves symptoms of acid reflux, boosts gut health, promotes kidney health and functions and much much more. There were several of the above listed items, and some unlisted ones, that had me desperately wanting to incorporate this little magic worker into my daily routine but there has been one thing that made it impossible to do so....the taste! I could NOT stomach the taste; I tried mixing it in cranberry juice, I tried holding my nose, I tried it all....and then I gave up.

With the first of the year came my new good intentions, goals, resolutions (whatever you want to call them) and I decided I really wanted to get on the ACV train. After lots of pinteresting, some trial and error, and taste tests....I am happy to announce I have found a way to not only stomach the ACV but to actually enjoy drinking it! I hope the simple, but effective recipe below helps you as much as it did me! If you have ever heard of the "Good Girl Moon Shine" this is similar to that with some tweaks. (bonus: it was kid and husband approved!!)

** I am adding two options: one is a little less healthy then the other- both are delicious!

Option one: (has more sugar)

ingredients:
1/4 cup frozen strawberries (the ones with sugar) or 2tbs of the chopped frozen strawberries with sugar
2 tablespoons of ACV (with the mother)
1/4 cup of water (or less if you want it more like a smoothie or none if you want it more like a snocone)
5-6 ice cubes
3 tablespoons of lemon juice and/or 4 drops of Jade lemon young living essential oil

place it all in the blender and blend until desired consistency
( I used both lemon juice and lemon oil because I really wanted to kill the taste and smell of the ACV- bonus is the lemon oil itself has excellent health benefits too! double win!)

*important to note:* I only use and especially only consume Young Living Essential Oils- they're specifically marked for consumption and I know I'm not placing synthetics or perfumes in my body- just pure oil.

OptionTwo:

change out the frozen strawberries in sugar with fresh strawberries and add any sweetener you prefer- I used stevia and it was just as delicious.

Option Three:

(I know- I said two, BONUS option aren't you lucky )

skip out on the strawberry all together and stick with straight lemonade. You can also add/ substitute other fruits to your liking as well.

Bacon, Egg and Cheese Muffins

If you are like me, the last thing you want to do this summer is slave away in a hot kitchen. While for us, summer means a break from the regular hussle, it does still come with its own form of busy. These bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast muffins are delicious, cheap, healthy, fast and easy (basically everything I hope for in a meal.) I make a double batch, wrap them in plastic wrap and toss in the freezer for an easy quick "grab and go" microwave friendly breakfast. Ingredients: makes 6 large muffins: 3 eggs 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese 1/4 cup of milk 6 pieces of your bacon of choice cooked (you can substitute sausage, ham or other meats as well) I used Turkey bacon veggies of your choice (I like bell peppers, tomatoes, or jalapenos ) 1 can of biscuits un cooked Combine the eggs, cheddar cheese, milk, and veggies in a mixing bowl. With a fork, (or whisk if you're a real cook....unlike me lol) beat the mixture until everything is pretty well mix...

Worldly Woes for Christian Women

This post won't be a very popular one, and that is ok; the truth usually is not that popular... After attending my church's "All In " women's conference   in April, I have repeatedly been brought back to Isaiah chapter 3. Mary Kassian spoke on a segment at the conference entitled Sending out an S.O.S. In which she discussed how applicable this specific chapter and situation is to today's society. What I am discussing here is a mixture of her lecture, and my own understanding of the information. Specifically I want to touch on her portion entitled the " Woes for Women".   We are facing these very woes addressed in Isaiah today, and God is warning us what happens when we don't head His S.O.S for us. Ladies I feel now more than ever, we are at war for our womanhood. Not the "girl power" " I am alpha woman" garbage we are fed via media, and the world trends, but the true role of woman as God designed us. Female and male ...

Fail Proof Slime

While summer time means endless days of water, and outside fun...we do (yes even in Texas) have our rainy summer afternoons, or (especially in Texas) have some days just too hot to be outside...and as any mom knows, those days can drive ya crazy fast! We found this awesome slime recipe, and it kept the girls thoroughly entertained. Here is the quick and easy " how to", and at the bottom I provided a list of the pros and cons I found with it. This was also a great activity to work on measuring, counting, coloring mixing, following steps, and then we used the slime to make letters and numbers. Fun and educational is always a plus during the summer. Between steps 3 and 4 you can also add in glitter, or essential oils to take your slime up a notch. Lavender would be an awesome oil to incorporate for a nice soothing, calming addition to this sensory activity. Ingredients: 3 (4oz) Bottles of liquid glue ( we went with Elmer's glue but I would t...
