Hulk Juice

"GROSS!!! It feels like a BOOGER!!", my five year old cried out. She instantly began to gag, dramatically clasping her throat, and screaming for water. "It stinks! It stinks so bad!", my three year old closed her nose as if she were walking through a land fill in July. What on Earth could cause such dramatics you ask?! Did I poison them? Did I feed them a bug? - No, I actually think they would have responded better to either of those, the terrible item I had the audacity to serve them .....steamed spinach, might as well have been a severed toe. There were, gags, there were tears (yes actual crying) and there were threats (from both me and them). Fast forward to today, and my five year old asked "...can I please have the green stuff now." GASP! How you ask... how did we go from the above to them requesting the same poisonous, trash dish they had above?! It is simple....they dunno that's what they are drinking.

I love juicing! I myself have a hard time enjoying certain veggies, and fruits, so juicing is an excellent way to get them all in there and the kids think they are having a treat! I sometimes just add ice and blend the following into a smoothie, especially during summer. Below is the sneaky vegetable and fruit packed potion my girls call "Hulk Juice". (because it is green, and makes you strong)

"Hulk Juice Green Smoothie/ Juice Blend"

Ingredients:

2 small apples (any will do, I prefer green apples)
Half a pineapple (if I find it needs to be sweeter I will use 3/4 of one. You can use canned or frozen, I prefer fresh.)
1 whole Kiwi
1 whole banana
hand full of baby spinach
handful of kale
2 large mangos, or 2 1/2 small
water or ice

you simply juice the above, or blend (I sometimes throw in more pineapple if I feel it needs to be sweeter) I personally do not add any sugar but I have seen similar recipes where some do. I prefer to blend until it is completely creamy because we all know lumps and toddlers are NOT friends! It makes a large batch and I typically keep it a week at a time and the kids will have a cup with breakfast and sometimes will ask for one in the evening with dinner, or snack.

Happy sneaking the veggies fellow ninja moms! Hope this helps!

Fail Proof Slime

While summer time means endless days of water, and outside fun...we do (yes even in Texas) have our rainy summer afternoons, or (especially in Texas) have some days just too hot to be outside...and as any mom knows, those days can drive ya crazy fast! We found this awesome slime recipe, and it kept the girls thoroughly entertained. Here is the quick and easy " how to", and at the bottom I provided a list of the pros and cons I found with it. This was also a great activity to work on measuring, counting, coloring mixing, following steps, and then we used the slime to make letters and numbers. Fun and educational is always a plus during the summer. Between steps 3 and 4 you can also add in glitter, or essential oils to take your slime up a notch. Lavender would be an awesome oil to incorporate for a nice soothing, calming addition to this sensory activity. Ingredients: 3 (4oz) Bottles of liquid glue ( we went with Elmer's glue but I would t
